Bandar Menjalara is usually a happening place for seafood & steamboat. Every seafood restaurant there seems to be packed. But we decided to have western this time we were there and based on Yoke Sim's recommendation, we made our way to D'Fortune.

Like most of the other places in the area, D'Fortune was filled to the brim as well.

It took a bit but we were finally seated at a table inside and it was interesting that rather than serve peanuts as appetizers, they served customers with fortune cookies. Imported from England, no less.

Lamb ChopWhere drinks are concerned, most people seemed to order the fruit juices. Stick to that as their iced tea is bad. Generally their drinks are too diluted, even their fruit juices. I asked for my Charbroiled Rib Eye Steak (RM22.50) to be medium rare. What I got was rather too well done. Not medium rare at all. Such is the state of Malaysian cooking that the chef often feels that he has to overcook the meat. If I want meat that well done, I might as well order a Ramly burger. But to their credit, the brown sauce was not bad. It's just unfortunate that they murdered my slab of meat.

The meat of the Charbroiled Black Pepper T-Bone Steak (RM23.50) was more stringy than the rib eye but it was certainly a huge piece of meat. If there was an award for the Value dish of the night, this would be it.

The tender grilled lam chop (RM14.50) with black pepper sauce was somewhat lacking. Perhaps the sauce overpowered the taste of the meat but something was amiss. It took awhile but my wife finally put it down to the absence of mint sauce.

While the sauce of the  Spaghetti Cabonara (RM8.50) is not as creamy as I may like it, it had an interesting bled of herbs & spices in the sauce and they put a generous amount of parmesan cheese on it. So much in fact that you could smell it. My daughter rated it better than the one she had at The Rib Shop.

Sausage Cheese Roll The melted cheese & sausage roll (RM8.50) is a sausage & cheese wrapped inside a spring roll and served with a very nice salsa sauce. A simple dish but clearly one of the pleasant surprise of the night. I would even declare it the winner.

RM106.58 for all 6 dishes. I didn't review the chicken chop. Not too bad. Decent food, decent prices.
