LS had managed to talk YL into buying us lunch at Noble House, one of Oriental group's fine dining establishment. I had always been a fan of Oriental's original restaurant in Section 14, PJ (too bad that Alex - the restaurant manager - is no longer there) and so there were some expectations of what we were going to get here. So with MK in tow, the four of us headed there for lunch.

We weren't what to have there so we decided (or rather LS decide for the rest of us - since he wasn't buying it was an easy decision for him) that we should have the Lunch Set A. Noble House, like I mentioned earlier, is a fine dining establishment and of course it comes with fine dining prices. The set that we ordered for 4 came up to RM188++ so you can see what a generous, wonderful & lovely friend we have in YL. :-)

This would be a great place to impress someone over a meal. Just don't be too impressed yourself when the bill arrives or you'll achieve the wrong effect with your guest/s.

Lunch started with a deep fried scallop topped with minced meat. Be warned that while the portions initially look small, you definitely get quality here, you will most certainly get your fill by the time lunch ends. So don't order any extras until you have finished your course. The meat (pork minced with scallop?) was fried to a golden brown colour but still retained it's tenderness inside was served on top of a scallop shell. It was a good start.

The pan fried cod fish was done to such perfection that you could feel the crispness on the outside but perfectly soft and moist on the inside. The cod fish was extremely fresh and topped with a fine teriyaki sauce, it was heaven.

Then came the teochew style braised shark fin soup served in a claypot. Lots of sharksfin and crab meat. Done in a clear style, it's not the starchy shark fin soup that you would fine at most local restaurants. But what made this dish a standout was the awesome thai style chili that came with it. Awesome - got kick, packs a wallop, clears the sinuses - those are terms that the lunch group used to describe it. If they bottled it - I think we would all have bought several bottles.

After all that, we needed to balance our diet with some green goodness. The chinese lettuce stir fried with soya sauce
was fresh & crunchy. While it was good, it still did not meet the benchmark set at Mooi Mooi.

We were beginning to feel full already and by the time we were mid-way through the fried rice with chinese sausage, we were all full and did not finish the fried rice. I felt that the fried rice was nothing out of the ordinary and they perhaps would have done better by putting something else in the set.

Desserts is usually something that I would give a miss but I am glad I did not do so here. Otherwise I would have missed their awesome glutinous rice dumpling with black sesame. Not only does it smell good but it tastes even better.
The the outer skin was firm enough so that the dumpling could be picked up by a chopstick but melts in the mouth once you bite into it. LS made some remarks about the size of the ball being akin to something else but think nothing of it because for me, this was the winner of the day.

An excellent lunch. Thank you YL!! We love you!! My stomach loves you!!
