After sending out the recent newsletter on Nasi Lemak joints, some readers suggested that I would have to try Nasi Lemak Tanglin. MK said it was the best Nasi Lemak he ever had. So one morning on the way to work, I swung by to give it a try. They are located at a new Food Court right beside the Methodist Girls' School (and opposite the Tanglin Community Clinic). Parking was easy and the place was new and clean. Thumbs up for that.
Arriving at about 7:45 am, I was fortunate to catch the stall during one of its quieter moments. After I had sat down and started eating, the queue became about 15 people deep. They serve Nasi Lemak with a choice of curry chicken, rendang, etc (no fried chicken though) but I decided that I just wanted a plain nasi lemak that day.
What can I say about the Nasi Lemak? The rice was warm which is good but it wasn't really lemak nor was it really fragrant. The sambal was good (no onions through) - had kick in it and only a wee bit of sweetness in it (still not up to the benchmark set by that place in Langkawi that I went to). The egg was OK. The ikan bilis was really good - crispy and tasty. Competent but really I can't call it the best Nasi Lemak in KL.
Anyway, check them out and tell what you think.
