I know, I know - I have been missing out on updating the site regularly for almost 3 months and LS has been sending me nasty e-mails to remind me of my responsibility. Well, here's the first update in a while and I am still on my Kopitiam binge.

Malaya Kopitiam is yet another one of those restaurants that have mushroomed of late to cash in on the craze for old fashion styled coffee shops. Located at the block of shoplots next to Sunway Parade, it's not hard to find. They serve the usual fare that you would expect any kopitiam to have - nasi lemak, curry laksa, Hainanese toast bread, boiled eggs, etc..

What we liked here was the Hainanese toast bread with kaya together with the half boiled kampung eggs. The eggs and toast arrived at the same time - which very few places get right - so points here for them. The Hainanese toast was crispy and toasted to perfection.  I think they could have been more generous with the kaya and butter but then it still tasted good. The eggs were half boiled - not a quarter or three quarters but perfecty half boiled.

The nasi lemak set was OK. The failing was that the rice was not "lemak" nor was it hard enough. But maybe because we were there too early and the rice was not quite ready yet. The sambal was different - it had kerisik (ground coconut) in it. Usually kerisik is found in rendang but it's found in the sambal here as well.

At RM4.50 for each set (which included either tea or coffee), you can't really complain about the price.
