Dragon-i first outlet was in Mid Valley's Cititel hotel. Now it has opened its second outlet in One Utama. What they are supposedly famous for is the chinese "la mian" or pulled mee. These are hand made noodles which over 400 years of history in China and it was perhaps the inspiration of the Italian spaghetti.
On this visit to the One Utama outlet, I skipped the "la mian" but wanted to try out their Shanghai Steamed Meat Dumpling. The window gallery of 3 chefs making the dumplins whetted my appetite for it. A RM 8 tray comes with four dumplings.
How were the dumplings? The skin broke as I picked up so that wasn't good. The soup while quite tasty did not have enough or no wine in it. Bummer.
We also had the Deep Fried Scallion Pastry (RM 8). I found the pastry too thick and it tastes like an onion ring and looks like one too. I think I would be happier settling for Burger King's Onion Rings instead.
The Chinese tea (RM 2 per glass) which would give you an endless supply of tea while good value, tasted bad.
The Snow Fungus with longan (RM 6) was bad. The longan was even a bit sour.
While I may have found the items I tried less than satisfying, that didn't stop a steady stream of diners from packing the place to the brim. In fact, there's a queue waiting to get into the place. So don't let my review stop you from trying the other things which must be better to pack in the crowds.
