Based on a a tip by KW who suggested that that the Char Kuey Teow at Restoran Taman Mayang Jaya was quite good, I decided to give it a try. I decided to go there late, so as to not be part of the lunch hour crowd. I have found that 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm is a good time to seek out Char Kuey Teow as they are less rushed and each plate will be fried individually therefore ensuring the maximum quality for the plate of Char Kuey Teow.
However, that wan't really the case here.
I will only say that the Char Kuey Teow here was decent. It was too dry for my liking, the Kuey Teow sticking to one another in lumps was not very appealing to me. There was no banana leaf, no lap cheong and no lard. About the only thing going for it was the chili - which was quite potent eventhough it did not seem so. The plate looked rather pale when it arrived but the chili did pack a wallop.
Each plate of Char Kuey Teow costs RM3.50.
