Eric Tsang's Hot Cafe, Hartamas by Luke Soon E-mail

Eric Tsang from HK, remember him? He's the shortie who plays the gangster boss in Infernal Affairs I (the one using Andy Lau to infiltrate the Police Force). He's also the 'lead' in Super Trio, a popular/lunatic game show where TVB stars let their hair down. Anyway, the Trio opened up a restaurant in Plaza Damas called Eric's Hot?!?

Since my bro just came back from Beijing we decided to eat out, and stumbled upon this place. At first glance, it's another one of 'those HK places'. But there's a slight variation to the concept - they do steamboats as well! We opted for what they claimed were their famous Szechuan treasures, since we had a resident expert in my bro. He started rattling Mandarin with a Beijing accent and had all the waiters rapt with attention. We had several dishes, mostly from the Szechuan menu (they have a long menu!), but the one that we found most authentic was the 'stir fried pork with bell peppers and cabbage'.

My bro pronounced it right: hui wok roh (literally translated, it means "return/come back wok meat"). Apparently, it describes the way it is cooked?!? I'll get an update from my bro and report. Well, it tasted good.

And at RM25/plate, it better be good! The place is at LG (lowest flr) Plaza Damas. Take the escalators all the way down. Try the steamboat too, looks interesting.
