Fong Lye Taiwanese Cuisine, Desa Sri Hartamas E-mail

If you are game for some Taiwanese cuisine with a fine dining setting but less than fine dining prices, give Fong Lye in Desa Sri Hartamas a visit.

Taiwanese cuisine is almost similar to what you would find at most Chinese restaurants with somewhat subtle differences like the sauces they use and the combinations they come up with (eg bean curd and century egg)

We started with the 'Sa Cha' Fried Noodles was fried with powdered tea. The aroma of the tea hits you as the dish arrives. Dishes cooked with tea are supposed to be good for health. If that's the case, then I wouldn't mind having this regularly. My daughter loved this dish.

Three Varieties of Supreme Diced Chicken which was a slightly sweet chicken dish with a hint of marmite and "kong pow" sauce was only OK. The Bean curd in claypot with abalone clams which they recommended as something my children would like because of the sauce largely went untouched by my children. It's not that it was bad but both my children had something else to caught their fancy.

My son (he is 4 years old now) thoroughly enjoyed the  Deep fried pig's intestines. It was so crispy that it was like a cracker, so I guess that's why my son liked it so much. Today he exhibited his old man's fancy for pork innards. I am proud of him.

My favourite was the simplest dish which was the eggplant with minced meat. The sauce was mildly spicy with a bit of sesame oil in it. But I guess sometimes it's the dish that you least expect most from that surprises you isn't it.

According to the toilet inspector, Bernice Kok, the toilet is very clean, modern & nice. There are also hooks to hang your handbag.
