I think I now have a new favourite if I am game for a fusion of Japanese & Italian. Actually, come to think of it did I ever have a favourite for Japanese & Italian fuion? Oh well, no matter. It’s the Mezza Notte at Asian Heritage Row which is now quite a popular hangout for diners. Mezza Notte has been reviewed by many others, so let me just share what I enjoyed while I was there.

We started with a twist on an old favourite – Ceaser’s Salad with Scallop. The scallop was nicely fried – crisp on the outside but still soft and succulent when you bite into it. A nice complement of vegetable, cheese and seafood.

Then it was on to meals and here you have a choice of Japanese sets, Italian sets or ala carte meals. My friend, Victor, had the Duck Ravioli and he declared that it met with his highly refined taste buds.  I had the Spideman Futomaki – which is a soft shelled crab hand roll – and it was also good. The soft shell crab was fried to a crisp perfection and what I liked about their serving was their generous portions of soft shell crabs in the maki. The maki was also generously layered with a lot of roe – yummy. And to top it off, they presented it with a nice touch of the maki in a spiders web.

Of course, my ordering of the Spiderman Futomaki led to some of the others asking for Superman Futomaki. Superman Futomaki would be maki presented in a red underwear.

While this is a good place to eat, be prepared to pay a price for it. Our meal for 5 people came up to RM377.

They are currently having a lunch buffet as well with sashimi & oysters. So if you love oysters & sashimi, this is the place to go to.
