While waiting to catch a movie, we were scouting for a place to eat and we decided to give Restoran Peranakan a try. It's located just one floor down from the TGV cineplex in One Utama. The place was quite full on a Tuesday night at 8 pm. So that was pretty unusual considering that most other diners were kind of experiencing a quiet period then. It took them 88 counts to come & take our order. However the lady who came to take the order was pretty cute so all was forgiven. Serena, that's the lady's name, recommended that I should try their assam laksa and what a recommendation that turned out to be. It turned out to be one of the best assam laksa i have had in KL/PJ. The soup is really 'kau' with lots of fish & pineapple in it. And the taste of the soup was good for every drop I could wring out of the bowl. In fact, i finished it so fast that i didn't have time to take a picture of it.
The cendol was also quite good. The ice was crushed to a fine compact powder like form and it tasted really good. One thing for certain, they really take quite a bit of care in preparing their food and maintaining its quality. Definitely worth another visit to try something else next time.
